O sebi zapiše:
Delara Navaey (b. 2000) is a Croatian/Iranian composer currently based in The Netherlands. Delara’s background is both in visual arts and a traditional musical education. Her work is driven by a critical yet deeplyengaged approach to contemporary art and performance, drawing equally on music and theatre. Rather than focusing on the refinement of musical material alone, Delara explores the wider conditions of performance — bringing elements of theatricality, conceptual framing, and the creative process itself onto the stage. Strongly influenced by early music, particularly medieval and Renaissance thought and practice, Delara finds inspiration in historical forms and
modality. Alongside historical repertoire and instruments, her work engages with literature, philosophy, linguistics, and theatrical texts, translating these sources into sound, staging, and live performance. Central to her practice is a critical reflection on contemporary music and concert culture. Rejecting the notion of “absolute music,” she approaches composition as an expanded performative act, integrating — or intentionally disconnecting — movement, lighting, staging, and sound to question how
music is created, presented, and experienced. Delara graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague where she studied with Yannis Kyriakides and Calliope Tsoupaki, and also received mentorship from Johannes Kreidler.
